May 29, 2018, the Syrian Arab Republic recognized the Republic of Abkhazia as a sovereign and independent state. The Republic of Abkhazia and Syrian Arab Republic have agreed on mutual recognition, establishing diplomatic relations between two states!

This event was preceded by hard work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in Russian Federation and other institutions of the Republic.

It is highly necessary to note the essential role of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Abkhazia and the first President of the CCI of RA Gennady L. Gaguliya, who made a significant contribution to the development of Abkhaz-Syrian relations. Gennady Gagaliya conducted consistent work to strengthen relations between entrepreneurs of Syria and Abkhazia. Participation in Damascus international exhibition, signing contracts with various Syrian trade organizations and involvement in the development of relations between the business communities of our Republics.

We are pleased and proud that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia has made its own contribution to the recognition of our Republic and establishment of official diplomatic relations between Syria and Abkhazia.

We highly value this step of the leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic and are confident that our relations will be developing in the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.
