Film festival SIFF 2019 opened in Sukhum
The 1st Sukhum International Film Festival SIFF 2019 will be held at the Fazil Iskander State Russian Drama Theater from April 4 to April 8, 2019.
The 2nd Sukhum International Film Festival SIFF 2019 was opened in Sukhum on Thursday, April 4.
The official opening of the II Sukhum International Film Festival was announced by its chairman, Abkhaz filmmaker Vyacheslav Ablotia
About 3,000 applications from foreign filmmakers were received for the 2019 competition, where 30 short films were selected. The nominees included participants from Spain, France, Germany, South Korea, Poland, Kosovo, Iran, Estonia, Tunisia, Italy, Romania, Greece, China, Kazakhstan, Andorra, Turkey, Russia, Belarus and Abkhazia.
The jury included Russian filmmakers Alexei Fedorchenko and Nigina Sifulaeva, winner of the 2018 SIFF Irina Volkova, film critic from the Netherlands Mike Nafs, Abkhaz director Ada Kviraya.
