Mountain tour in Abkhazia: Gega - Dzou – Arbaika
Extreme hiking route in the tract Dzou with access to Lake Dzou through the mountain Arbaiku with the rise of the hill Mamdzyshha. It takes 3 days for the route prepared by groups of tourists and 5 days for the untrained group (women and children). The total length of the route - 30 km.
Walking route starts from Gega waterfall. The trail runs through the gorge Gega river rises and goes to the left. It starts steep and long climb, which takes 6-7 hours. By the evening of the first day the group goes in the hole Dzou. There, at the shepherd's shed, the first planned overnight stay in tents.
On the morning of the second day begins a new climb up the rocky mountain spurs, 2 hours scenic mountain lake Dzou. Here, the group makes a short halt, you can relax and have a snack. From the lake the trail goes along the gorge Dzou for 3 hours, the ridge rises Arbaa and down to the foot Mountains Arbaika. There will be a second overnight.
Hyrky - Gagra Range - Mamdzyshha
From the lake to the mountains Dzou Hyrky (the locals call it Mount “Umbrella”) found no water, it is necessary to stock up at the lake.
Depending on the season snowfields can occur in your way, and, as in a kaleidoscope, will be revealed beautiful panorama. Group is to circumvent the Gagra Range and reach the shepherd's booths in the Alpine meadows. The third day begins with a fork trail. If you take the direction to the southeast, it is possible to go down to the locality Gantiadi. If we continue towards the south-west, you can reach the ridge of the mountain Arbaika and go to the top of a gently sloping mountain Hyrky. From there we see the road on which there is access to Material Mamdzyshha mountain. You can climb to the top of the mountain, and you can just go down the road to the track. On top Mamdzyshhi has an observation deck from which you can see the "half of Abkhazia." In all directions panorama, one more beautiful than the other: the sea, the Cape Pitsunda, at Gudauta, on a chain of snowy peaks Bzyb ridge.
