In ancient times, all the food of Abkhazians was divided by season. In the spring and summer Abkhaz people eat consumed dairy and vegetable products. In autumn eat meat products, and in the winter - smoked.

For breakfast, the elderly drank a glass of vodka and ate dried fruit. When they have completed the case on the farm, on returning home they had lunch. Cooked hominy, which is consumed with milk products, and quickly cooked food. For lunch and cooked hominy, traditionally drank a glass of red wine. A dinner was no different from the lunch and breakfast.

The cattle are not slaughtered in the spring, because at this time of the year it has not yet had time to gain weight. By the autumn of cattle slaughtered and smoked for the winter period.

We collect a lot of berries and wild fruit, the biggest chestnut. From it women cooked different foods, even produced the chestnut flour and sweets.
