Reprua is the shortest river in the world
The beginning of travelling deep into Abkhazia we’ll finish on shore of the unique river. Not far from sanatorium “Moskva” in sea shore the imperceptible river Peprua (Ripra) flows. It’s underground spring live on waters of the deepest in the world cave Crubera. It is possible that Reprua is the shortest river in the world. It springs from lime rock at a height of 2 metres above sea level. The length of it from river head to creek is 18 m., the width depending on season is 20-40 m. Continual falling of river into sea is 3 m3 of water, which temperature is 10,90C. Not far from the river creek springs cool underwater streams, which are the part of the deepest karst planet’s hydrosystem.
The river’s name admittedly come from Abkhazian root “ripra” – which means “dig”, “erupt”. Reprua River gives water to Gagra region which is only tenth part of river’s inventory.
