The highest point of Abkhazia - a mountain peak Dombai - Ulgen height above sea level 4046 meters.

In 1839, at the invitation of General N. Rajewski Abkhazia was visited by the painter Ivan Aivazovsky. His journey was accomplished along the Black Sea on the ships " Silistra" and "Colchis" , where he made sketches and drawings glad that became the foundation for the celebrated painting "Storm at the coast of Abkhazia".

For more than 90 years, the personal guard of the king of Jordan has been Circassian Guard, composed of representatives of the Abkhaz – Adyghe people.
