The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia, Tamila Mertskhulava, took part in the regular joint meeting of the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts. The Association was attended by 48 Presidents of the CCI of NCFD and SFD.

The meeting discussed the activities of the chambers, their role in implementation of the national project "Small and medium-sized enterprises and support of individual entrepreneurial initiative"; the Rostov region CCI’s experience; interaction of regional and municipal chambers of commerce and industry with the state on issues of supporting entrepreneurship in implementing regional programs for the development of small businesses, etc.

After the meeting, Tamila Mertskhulava and Sergey Katyrin discussed the possibilities of advanced training of experts of the CCI of the Republic of Abkhazia in determining the country of origin of goods, verification of certificates of origin etc., according to the training program in the “CCI Expert” system under the CCI of RF.

Sergey Katyrin promised full support in resolving this issue.

Within the framework of the meeting of the Association, the opening of International Commercial Arbitration Court (ICAC) Branch under the CCI of RF took place. The event was held in the conference hall of the government building of Stavropol Region in Stavropol.

The event was attended by: President of the CCI of RF Sergey Katyrin, deputy chairman of the regional government Nikolay Afanasov, acting deputy chairman of the Arbitration Court of Stavropol Region Marina Kerimova, director of Arbitration and Mediation Center of the CCI of RF Dmitry Podshybyakin, representatives of business community, etc.

According to Sergey Katyrin, the opening of the ICAC Branch is an important event for the system of chambers of commerce and industry of the entire region. The International Commercial Arbitration Court is the leading arbitration institution not only in Russia but also in the world with more than 85 years of history. One of the results of reform of the Russian arbitration proceedings was granting the ICAC the right to consider not only international but also domestic disputes, as well as establishing branches in regions. 17 branches of the ICAC have already been created.

Dispute resolution at the ICAC has a number of advantages for business: a high level of arbitration, acceptable fees for dispute resolution compared to other arbitration centers, cases are considered in one authority in compliance with the principle of confidentiality.
