21 May is the Day of Memory of victims of Caucasians war violently evicted Peoples.
The staff of CCI RA headed by the president of CCI, Gennady Gagulia visited the memorial in Sukhum, devoted to this tragic date in the history of Abkhazian people.
The president of RA Alexander Ankvab , the Vice president -Michael Logua, the Prime minister – Leonid Lakerbaya, the parliamentary speaker of RA – Valeri Bganba, the mayor – Aliyas Labakhua, and other officials and representatives of the government and public organizations, intellectuals honored the memory of victims of Caucasians war violently evicted Peoples.
It will be recalled that the Caucasian War lasted from 1817 to 1864 ended by establishment the supremacy of Russia over the Caucasus and marked by mass migration of highland peoples into the Ottoman Empire.
In 1866, the most massive migration was in Abkhazia.
