The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aleksander Ankvab signed the law on « Investment activities”, which determines the legal and economic basis of the investment activities on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia, also establishes guarantees of the equal protection of rights of interests and property of the investments activities members independently from the property forms.

Till today the law on “foreign investments” was operating (dated by 1992), which was regulating exclusively  legal relationship , arising during the implementation of the investments by the foreign investors, and is not spread to the national investors, whose interests are not protected by other similar normative legal acts , which put them to wittingly worst situation. Moreover, the tax privileges , stipulated for foreign investors  are not spread to the internal investors, which makes the last ones less competitive on its domestic market.

The signed law by the President of Abkhazia on increase the flow of investments to the economy of the country by means of removal preventing issues to this factor and interfering the modern methods of interaction between the state and investors.

The drafting of the current law was made by the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Abkhazia under the expert and methodic assistance of the Ministry of Economic development of Russia within the framework of implementation of Russian-Abkhazian joint plan of first and foremost events aimed to the fastening of socio-economic development of the Republic of Abkhazia.
