The Republic of Abkhazia received on 28/9/2017 a delegation of Doublemasi composed of a number of Syrian parliamentarians headed by Maha Shapiro, a member of the People's Assembly. The delegation's program also included a number of meetings with the Abkhaz government. The delegation met with the Prime Minister of Abkhazia Mr Beslan Bartsits, And discussed with him the Abkhazian Syrain relations and the possibility of developing these relations. The delegation also met with some of the members of the Syrian community of Abkhaz origin in the Commitee of the Returnees.The members of the government expressed their close proximity to this community, which has lived for many years on the Syrian territory to become an integral part of Syria and contributed effectively to the building and development of Syria. That they can also build and develop the Republic of Abkhazia.

While the visit of the Syrian government delegation coincided with the celebrations of the Victory Day in Abkhazia, members of the Syrian government placed wreaths on the Martyrs' Monument expressing their sorrow over the victims of this war. The delegation also enjoyed watching the military display of the Abkhaz forces. In the words of Mr. Raul Khadjimba, President of the Republic, during the ceremony, he expressed his thanks to all delegations participating in this great day.

The delegation concluded its visit to the Republic of Abkhazia in a meeting with President Raúl Khadjimba, who expressed his solidarity with the Syrian cause and his country's stand with the Syrian government and people. The president also thanked the Syrian delegation for this visit of Abkhazia and for their participation in the celebrations of the Victory Day, explaining that this participation sets new lines for relations between the two countries.
