The Union of Writers of Abkhazia celebrates World Poetry Day at the Bagrat Shinkubа House Museum
Every year on March 21, the world community celebrates World Poetry Day.
In the year of Bagrat Shinkub's 100th anniversary, Abkhazian writers celebrate the International Day of Poetry in the House-Museum of the great writer, in the village of Chlou in the Ochamchyrа District.
The event is attended by representatives of the public, the Association of Writers of Abkhazia, the Ministry of Culture and Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage, students and teachers of the Abkhaz State University, as well as students of the local secondary school named after the People's Writer of Abkhazia.
On 15 November 1999, UNESCO adopted a resolution on the establishment of an international day, which was to "breathe a second life" into the world poetic movement. For the first time the holiday was celebrated on March 21 in 2000 in Paris. The main goal of the International Day of Poetry is to emphasize the great importance that literature plays in the cultural life of modern society, to unite the poets of the whole world and to give them the right and opportunity to declare themselves!
