International Ardzinba Airport is an in airport Sukhum, capital of Abkhazia. Aerodrome class, capable of receiving aircraft Il-86, Il-76, Tu-154 and more light, as well as helicopters of all types. The only international airport of the republic. The airport is based national airline of Abkhazia - "Abkhazian Airlines". It works border post and customs. For a long time the airport was in a poor state and needed major repairs. In 2011 the airport was partially renovated and was preparing for the resumption of flights. The leadership of Abkhazia planned to launch flights in the fall of 2013, but the plans have not been implemented.

The International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO does not recognize Sukhum airport as an international, it recognizes the unity of Georgia, the sky over Abkhazia could not be open without the permission of the Georgian government, as it is according to ICAO opinion violates international norms.

In the middle of 1960-s it built an airfield and terminal building. In 1993 the airport was closed, scheduled flights are not met.

August 11, 2008 during the war in South Ossetia, at the airport for the first time in 15 years made a landing military transport planes of Russia - more than three dozen of IL-76 who delivered paratroopers and military equipment. September 14, 2008 at the airport took first in 15 years airliner - aircraft Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Russia.
