Today, May 5, in the banquet hall of the hotel "Inter-Sukhum" culinary contest "Holiday of Sweets" was held, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia. All the costs for its preparation and holding the CCI completely assumed.

This is the fourth contest of confectioners. But if earlier it was called "The Best Confectioner of Abkhazia", ​​this time, at the suggestion of the CCI President Gennady Gaguliya, it was renamed "Holiday of Sweets".

"The concept of sweetness is more capacious than just confectionery. It is also a sweet atmosphere, and the holiday itself, which gives a sense of joy. During the competition professionals and amateurs prepared confectionery delicacies, and visitors taste baked goods and other desserts. The special atmosphere of the contest, the taste of confectionery, and, of course, the communication of people for such a good reason is the "Holiday of Sweets," believes Gennady Gaguliya.

21 contestants from all regions of Abkhazia took part in the culinary competition, including both known confectionery enterprises and individual entrepreneurs. All participants of the contest were presented under the numbers.

Masters of confectionery business competed in three categories: "Best Cake", "Best Brownie" and "Best Eastern Sweets". Visitors of the contest were to evaluate the appearance and taste of the products presented for the contest.

In parallel, a fair was organized for the sale of confectionery products, where all present could buy at a minimum price.

At the entrance to the hall, guests, having received the newsletter and choosing the product they liked, inscribed the participant's number in it.

Winners in 3 nominations were determined during the counting of guests' votes. Members of the counting commission were not determined in advance. At the invitation of the guests who came to the contest, they were: Secretary of the Public Chamber of Abkhazia Natella Akaba, director of the boarding house "Pine Grove" Lyudmila Lolua and Deputy Minister for Resorts and Tourism Astamur Akhba.

In the nomination "Best Cake" the winner was the individual entrepreneur Oksana Shakhinba; In the nomination "Best Eastern Sweets" - individual entrepreneur Oksana Golandzia; In the nomination "The best brownie" - cafe-confectionery "Dow".

Based on the total number of votes, Oksana Shakhinba was declared the best pastry chef of 2017.

The winners were awarded diplomas of the CCI of RA and memorable gifts.
